Fast and Pray

I read a piece this week comparing Joseph and Mary and Jesus’ entry into Bethlehem with the illegal immigrants coming across our border from the South.  They said that they would have been separated at the border as families are now in our country under our current laws.  They even showed all three of them in separate cages as an exaggerated manger scene.  I could not help myself, I responded that Joseph and his family were legal immigrants, therefore, the statement is only another stab at our government and an opportunity to show your ignorance.    I did not post the part about ignorance!  The divisiveness in our country is heartbreaking.  Jesus came and reduced our laws to two from 613 in the Old Testament and we seem determined as a people to ignore them even in the Advent season.  I admit that some of the lawmakers (even those proclaiming to be Christians) are stretching my love for my neighbor but that is what we are called to do.  2 Chronicles 7:14 tells is to humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, and He will heal our land.  If we ever needed a healing in our land it is now.  Therefore, (I love when He says that) let’s join together tomorrow in our fast, to pray for our country, our leaders and our own hearts that the divisions would melt in the light of His Love….John 3:16;  Oh Come Let Us Adore Him!!!!!\

LIFE does not meet tonight but please remember to join us at Summer Breeze on Sunday at 4:00 for our annual Christmas party.  Island Harmony, an all-girl barbershop singing group will be leading us in seasonal music and sharing goodies with the residents.

Bless you, Jim
